Top Up Your Crypto Card with USDT TRC-20

To top up a Kripicard with USDT TRC-20, copy the Tron deposit address from your dashboard (it starts with T), choose the TRC-20 or Tron network on your exchange or wallet, and send USDT. Once the transfer confirms, the amount minus the funding fee is added to your balance and can go onto any card, Visa or Mastercard. TRC-20 is the network most exchanges default to for USDT because withdrawals are cheap and fast. The catch is the fee token: a self-custody Tron wallet needs TRX to pay for the transfer.

Why TRC-20 is the default for card top-ups

Most of the USDT in circulation sits on Tron, and almost every large exchange supports TRC-20 withdrawals with a low flat fee. For a top-up of a few hundred dollars that fee is a small fraction of the amount, which is why TRC-20 is the network most Kripicard users start with.

The USDT token on Tron is issued by Tether under the contract TR7NHqjeKQxGTCi8q8ZY4pL8otSzgjLj6t. If a wallet shows a token called USDT with any other contract, it is not Tether's USDT and will not be credited.

Step by step: from exchange or wallet to card

  • 1. In the Kripicard dashboard, open Top up and select USDT on TRC-20. Copy the address, which starts with T.
  • 2. On your exchange, start a USDT withdrawal and select TRC-20 or Tron (TRX) as the network. Do not choose BEP-20, ERC-20 or another chain.
  • 3. Paste the address and check the first four and last four characters against the dashboard. Address-replacing clipboard malware exists, so never type an address from memory or trust a pasted one without checking.
  • 4. Send. For a first deposit, a small test amount above the minimum is a reasonable habit.
  • 5. When the transfer confirms, the balance appears in the dashboard and you can move it onto a card or issue a new one in about 60 seconds.

TRX, energy and why a Tron transfer can fail

Exchanges pay the Tron network cost for you and charge a flat withdrawal fee instead. Self-custody wallets are different: every USDT transfer consumes energy, and if the wallet has neither staked energy nor enough TRX to burn for it, the transaction fails. Keep a few TRX in any Tron wallet you send USDT from.

Sending USDT to an address that has never held USDT before costs roughly double the energy of sending to one that has. You do not need to work this out yourself: wallets show the fee before you confirm. Enter that figure in the top-up calculator to see the full cost.

Mistakes that cost TRC-20 users money

  • Picking BEP-20 by habit. BNB Chain addresses start with 0x and look nothing like a Tron address, but some exchanges list both networks next to each other. Read what to do if you sent on the wrong network.
  • Sending TRX instead of USDT. The address accepts USDT. Native TRX sent to it is not a card top-up.
  • Sending from a contract or smart wallet that batches transfers. Send directly from an exchange or a standard wallet.
  • Trusting a "support agent" who messages you a new address. Kripicard never contacts users first on Telegram. See the Telegram scam warning.

Frequently asked questions

Is USDT TRC-20 accepted for Kripicard top-ups?
Yes. TRC-20 is one of three accepted USDT networks, alongside ERC-20 and Solana. The balance it funds works on both Visa and Mastercard cards.
Do I need TRX to top up with TRC-20?
Only when sending from your own wallet. Exchanges cover the network cost and charge you a flat withdrawal fee in USDT instead. A self-custody Tron wallet needs TRX or staked energy, or the transfer fails.
How long does a TRC-20 top-up take?
Tron produces a block about every three seconds, so the transfer itself usually confirms within a minute or two. Exchanges add their own withdrawal processing time on top, which varies by exchange.
Can I send USDT TRC-20 from Binance or another exchange directly?
Yes. Select USDT, choose the TRC-20 or Tron network, paste the Kripicard deposit address and confirm. Check the network name on the confirmation screen before sending.
What if I sent USDT on BEP-20 to my TRC-20 address?
An exchange should reject it, because a BEP-20 address and a Tron address have different formats. If a transfer did go through on the wrong network, open a ticket from your dashboard with the transaction hash and do not send it again.
