Crypto Card in Spain
A crypto card is a virtual Visa or Mastercard funded with stablecoins. In Spain, where everyday payments run on euro cards and Bizum, the gap a crypto card fills is narrow but real: spending a dollar-denominated crypto balance at merchants that bill in USD — advertising platforms, SaaS, AI tools and US stores — without first selling to euros and sending funds through a bank. Kripicard issues a virtual card in about 60 seconds, you pick Visa or Mastercard per card, and you fund it with USDT.
Who in Spain uses a crypto card
Spain has a mature banking system, so most residents do not need a crypto card for daily spending. The users who benefit are those whose money already lives in stablecoins: freelancers and remote workers paid in USDT by foreign clients, media buyers running USD ad accounts, and founders paying for US software stacks.
For them, the alternative is selling USDT for euros on an exchange, withdrawing by SEPA, and then paying a USD invoice with a euro card — two conversions on the same money. A USD card funded directly from USDT removes both.
Bizum, SEPA and a crypto card: different jobs
Bizum and SEPA transfers are the right tools for paying people and businesses inside Spain and the euro area. A crypto card is not a substitute for them.
Use the crypto card for the international, USD-priced side of your spending. Keeping those payments on separate virtual cards also makes it easier to see what each subscription or ad account actually costs.
Typical uses
What users in Spain most often put on a Kripicard virtual card:
- Advertising — Meta, Google and TikTok accounts billed in USD. See crypto cards for advertising.
- AI and SaaS — ChatGPT, Claude, hosting and developer tools. See paying for ChatGPT with crypto.
- Freelance income spending — use USDT earnings without off-ramping first.
- Online shopping — US stores and marketplaces that price in dollars.
What happens with euro-priced purchases
The card balance is in USD. If you pay a merchant that charges in euros, the card network converts the amount at its rate. That works, but for purely euro spending your Spanish bank card is usually the simpler option. The crypto card is strongest where the price is already in dollars.
Tax and reporting in Spain
Spain taxes gains from disposing of crypto, and holdings on foreign platforms can carry reporting duties above certain thresholds. Spending stablecoins may count as a disposal. Keep a record of top-ups and spending and check with the Agencia Tributaria or a tax advisor. Kripicard does not provide tax advice — see the responsible use policy.
